01
Understanding HIV Trends in Asia–Pacific
Regional HIV Overview
In 2023, Asia–Pacific recorded 300,000 new HIV infections and 150,000 AIDS-related deaths. Although deaths have reduced over the years, new infections have not declined fast enough. Rising epidemics in several countries highlight the need for stronger prevention and wider treatment access across communities. From limited harm reduction services to slow PrEP adoption, key gaps continue to affect progress. Strengthening these areas can help improve care, reduce infections, and support vulnerable groups across the region.
02
HIV Impact on Regional Children
Protecting Young Lives
Children remain among the most vulnerable to the HIV epidemic in Asia–Pacific, with 120,000 currently living with HIV. High infection levels in countries like Indonesia, India, and Papua New Guinea show the urgent need for early diagnosis, effective treatment, and improved prevention services for mothers and newborns. With better access to testing and care, these children can live healthier lives. Expanding pediatric treatment and building strong support systems can help protect the next generation.
